6 Ways to Blog Better, Harder, Faster

6 Ways to Blog Better, Harder, Faster

Whether you’re a seasoned or just-got-in-the-game blogger, we can never have enough tricks and tips in our hats to help us blog better, right?

Build a surplus of posts.  You never know when you’re just not feeling the blogging phenomenon, so it is always better to be prepared.  Sometimes you just get hit with a wallop of a writer’s block… other times you can’t stop the words from coming out.

Invite guest bloggers. If you have a few favorite bloggers or people you’d love to see contribute something to your blog (keep an eye out for “rising stars”), approach them and ask.  There’s never harm and asking casually, politely, and without commitment.

Leverage your readers. It’s a busy world, and most bloggers have full time jobs and filled lives, so use the strengths of your readers and incorporate their knowledge into your posts.  (Not sure how?  Stay tuned for an entire article on this subject!)

Get three more tricks!

Have your own blogathon. Let’s face it, you might not have time every day to blog, but we all want to.  Try using known down time (say, Sunday AM when all the kids are still sleeping) to churn out some posts that you can schedule throughout the week.

Write down good ideas. Keep a notebook by your desk, bedside, or wherever you do your best thinking.  You might need multiple notebooks!  I know this sounds like a no-brainer, but it’s not always something we remember to do.  Even if it’s just a smattering of an idea, jot it down and revisit when you have the time to play with it further.

Highlight content from the archives. For bloggers who have been at it for awhile, you are bound to have some great posts that have just gotten buried amongst all of your content.  It might even have been a great post that few people had the chance to read, because it was one of your firsts when you had only Mom and Pop reading your blog.  Now is a great time to bring it back and on the forefront of your blog.

Do you fully write your posts, then schedule them? How did you get to be so good at Photoshop? That’s where I’m struggling the most. I use Paint.net for picture cropping and resizing and Visual Watermark for the obvious. Photoshop just seems so daunting and yet you have that down pat! Suggestions?
